Secondary Computer and Technology Teacher 

 

The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serves 1600 students from PreK-12 and is a free, open-enrollment public charter school. Over 92% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School, Guadalupe Centers Middle School, and Guadalupe Centers Elementary School. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers’ educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Our roots in our community run deep.

Summary: 

The Computer and Technology Teacher provides strong, effective instruction and staff development in the area of computer use and related technologies to support the instructional process.

 

Reports To: Building Principal

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Trains students and staff associated with integrated software applications, word processor applications, database applications, and spreadsheet applications and methods of integrating technology in the classroom.
  • Designs, delivers and assesses student learning activities that integrate computing and/or instructional technology use for a variety of student grouping strategies for diverse student populations.
  • Implements engaging instructional opportunities that embrace coding and digital literacy.
  • Assigns special products to students that embrace STEM standards, and actively monitors student success with project completion.
  • Identifies appropriate web-based resources that are correlated to the core curriculum to improve instruction and enhance student learning.
  • Uses online communication tools to support instruction and connect with the community around us.
  • Design a technology curriculum that is appropriate to support the needs of middle school students.
  • Keeps current on instructional principles, research, and appropriate assessment practices as related to the use of computers and technology resources in the curriculum
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Skilled in multimedia techniques and applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations. 
  • Committed to working with under-served students.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. 
  • Missouri State Certification in Secondary Education. 
  • Successful completion of the CPE (Computer Proficiency Exam).
  • Three years of experience in network management.
  • Experience in an urban school setting is preferred. 
  • Teaching and training experience in Computer Applications. 
  • Experience in telecommunications is preferred. 
  • Highly Qualified Status (this status requires the following) … 
    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Appropriate certification for the course/grade level being taught.
    • Documentation of content expertise in the area being taught. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the school and classroom.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
