Position Summary

The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as to school-sponsored events and activities. This role requires a commitment to student safety, reliable performance, and professionalism in representing GCCS within the community.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus along assigned routes and schedules.

• Conduct daily pre- and post-trip safety inspections; report any mechanical issues.

• Maintain appropriate student conduct to ensure safety during transportation.

• Report all accidents, incidents, and concerns promptly to transportation management or appropriate authorities.

• Attend required training sessions, meetings, and in-service days.

• Complete all required documentation accurately, including inspection and trip reports.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

• Frequent overhead reaching and lifting of up to 20 lbs.

• Ability to sit for extended periods.

• Frequent standing, walking, squatting, stooping, and climbing.

• Ability to clear an exit door located 42 inches from the ground.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus and Air Brakes Endorsements.

  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification.

• Ability to pass required annual tests and safety checks (including CDE testing).
